Why December makes your brain hurt and how to navigate it like a pro💪

Hello friend,

Your mental resources are even more precious in December, so to the point!

In this message, you will find:

📌Sciency insights about what this time does to sensitive and gifted systems

📌Three simple supports you can use before, during, and after the holiday intensity

📌A special invite to a late, neurodivergent edition of Cyber Week (because we make our own rules!) with access to VIP support

If you’ve already checked out for December, you are not alone...

We've entered the time of year that feels like a lot!

Our systems tend to be taxed and working to the max.

December can bring routine disruptions, emotional intensity, schedule shifts, and sensory overload, especially for sensitive, gifted, and twice-exceptional nervous systems.

This month often places higher demands on our system, impacting executive function, emotional regulation, sensory thresholds, and more. All the extra input can take up space in our brain, putting a strain on our working memory.

Research consistently shows us that:

✍️Reduced daylight influences melatonin and serotonin cycles, which can affect sleep quality, energy, and mood regulation.

✍️Routine changes (school breaks, holiday events, shifting schedules) interrupt the structure that supports executive functioning.

✍️Increased social and logistical demands add cognitive load, which can make transitions, planning, and emotional flexibility require more effort.

Additionally, my experience working with hundreds of gifted and highly creative individuals has shown me, time and time again, that at this time of year internal pressure and self-criticism tend to rise sharply for sensitive beings.

All those things we said we would do, all the shoulds, woulds, coulds, and all the self-imposed high expectations can add to the emotional load and impact our sense of worth and confidence.

But, there's a different way to move through this time!

Intentionally supporting your internal world can help you (and/or your child) transition into the new year from a grounded place, instead of trying to re-center after the holidays.

When we put structure, strategies, and self-awareness in place as we move into January, it becomes easier to begin the new year with clarity, confidence, and a sense of direction already established.

We are able to strengthen emotional balance, keep motivation and follow-through, navigate transitions with confidence, and reduce overwhelm in decision-making.

I'd like to share three simple approaches that support executive functioning and emotional regulation during times of increased demand, so you can support your energetic and nervous system through the holiday season and beyond🙌

1. Set one Daily Reference Point:
Choose one brief activity that stays the same each day. This gives the mind a familiar reference point, which supports emotional regulation and planning for both adults and children.

Examples:
🧠A consistent morning start ritual (e.g., tea, stretching, journaling)
🧠A 10-minute reading or quiet time in the evening
🧠A short walk at the same time each day

Keep it simple and repeatable. The predictability is what helps the nervous system stay settled.

2. Use Pre-Decided Defaults to Reduce Decision Fatigue:
When routines shift, the brain burns more energy deciding what to do next.
Pre-decided defaults reduce that load.

Examples:
🧠A simple, go-to meal for busy days that requires almost no prep
🧠A consistent evening wind-down window that stays roughly the same time each night
🧠A set reset activity like stepping outside for 2 minutes, music, or going for a walk

When the brain doesn't have to decide from scratch, it conserves energy.

3. Use Short Transition Cues to Support Shifting Between Activities:
Transitions often require extra mental effort for gifted and sensitive nervous systems.

A short cue helps us shift from one task to the next.

Examples:
🧠Saying out loud what is ending and what is about to begin
🧠Physically standing up and sitting back down to signal a shift
🧠Using a two-minute timer to close one task before starting another
🧠Fully closing the laptop or notebook before moving to the next task

A brief transition cue helps the brain register the shift so the next step feels easier to begin. These help us reorient and move forward with more flow.

And speaking of moving forward with more flow....

I'm introducing a new offering that I'm super excited to share with you!!🎉

I usually do not participate in Black Friday discounts that add more noise or lead people to buy something they don't need. Instead, this year I wanted to join in with a fashionably late, Cyber Week neurodivergent edition for those who want focused support to move forward with more clarity. Something actually worth investing in.

VIP (Very Interesting People) Immersive Experience:

A one-day Telegram 1:1 immersive experience designed to help you gain clarity on one or two key areas in your life (or your child's).

You receive a full day of access to me on Telegram (voice and text), a 45-minute live focus call beforehand to define the direction for the day, and a 30-minute integration call scheduled afterward to consolidate insights, so your VIP day is clear and focused.

Throughout the day, we can work through one or two defined challenges, get clarity about your most pressing questions, or map out strategies that truly fit the way you (or your child) think, process, feel, learn, and take action.

Examples of what we can work on during your VIP Day:

✨Sorting through ideas, questions, direction, or practical next steps

✨Reviewing your current strategies and upgrading them so they work for your unique brain wiring

✨Supporting you (or your child/teen) in establishing routines that align with how your mind and nervous system naturally work

✨Planning next steps or personal goals for 2026

✨Making sense of challenging experiences from 2025 and translating them into clearer direction for 2026

✨Identifying and untangling the core patterns or beliefs that have been stopping forward movement

This is designed for:

✅A parent seeking support for their child or teen

✅An adult seeking support for themselves

Because this is a brand-new opportunity and I would like everyone to have access and experience my work, I'm offering an introductory rate for the first weeks. For this late, neurodivergent edition of Cyber Week, I'm adding a 30 percent discount on top of that introductory rate for VIP Days booked by January 15.

To receive this combined rate, you can use the code VIPJANUARY when you book (click the plus sign + on the "Package, gift, or coupon code" option).

This combined rate will only be available until January 15, so this is the best moment to access it if you know you want support next year.

To claim one of the VIP Day spots, click below:

If you would like more details first, simply reply: More VIP info,” and I'll send you more information, or we can schedule a 20-Minute Complimentary Exploration call to see if this is the right fit.

The VIP Day gives you access to one key element I use in my more in-depth programs: focused, real-time support through Telegram. It offers a lighter, accessible way to work with me if you want clarity and direction without stepping into a full multi-week commitment.

For those who want a wider framework, the Inner Compass program expands this work through a structured sequence of sessions, multi-day Telegram access, and a full arc that supports lasting change. You can explore more here if you are curious.

Remember that the calendar is an arbitrary structure, and many cultures begin the new year later. Your January can be a natural window to reflect and set direction at your own pace. Move through this transition in a way that feels right for you, with zero pressure from society. Make your own rules!

Here's to a smoother transition into new chapters💚

Hey curious human, What if you could meet the version of yourself who is thriving, fulfilled, energized, and doing work that truly matters to you? And what if you could ask that future version for clues and guidance to help you get there easily? Earlier this month, at the Solarpunkification Art Exhibition opening weekend in San Francisco, I guided an incredible group of people through an Ikigai Future Memory Experience—bringing them into a future where they are aligned with their calling and...
